We are currently seeking an ICU Technician / Assistant to add to our team!
Animal Emergency & Specialty Center is the 24-hour partner to your neighborhood veterinarian, here to manage illnesses and injuries when your neighborhood veterinarian is closed and equipped with the tools and knowledge for advanced diagnostics, evaluation, and treatment that’s beyond the scope of most veterinary practices.
This is a full-time position Friday Sunday 7pm - 7am Department Veterinary Assistants Employment Type Full Time Location Chattanooga, Tennessee Workplace type Onsite Compensation $16.00 - $18.00 / hour
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include :
- Uphold the AESC values of : patient care, client communication, teamwork, and rDVM relationships
- Provide exemplary patient care to the Intensive Care Unit by supporting the ICU technician in treatments order
- Work independently and as a team to provide high-level care to critical patients
- Maintain communication with attending DVM and ICU tech regarding patient status and disease progression
- Perform diagnostic testing as required by the veterinarian such as running chemistries, CBCs, urinalysis, and fecal floats
- Additional assistant tasks such as cleaning and stocking tasks
- Assisting our Technicians and our Veterinarian as needed
- Tackling projects as assigned
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience is preferred
- Desire to learn critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Time management skills to appropriately balance learning opportunities and primary job
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff.

- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds
- Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases
