Senior Director / Director, Public Affairs

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, is seeking a senior director or director to join our team in Washington, D.

C. Directors and senior directors manage significant aspects of clients’ public affairs campaigns, including overseeing federal, state, and local engagements.

Candidates must have previous experience managing external field operatives or operations or issue advocacy campaigns. Prior agency or political campaign experience is required.

The senior director or director position is full-time with benefits and presents unique advancement opportunities for those seeking to excel and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Portfolio will include a range of projects of various scopes and sizes across multiple industries related to public affairs initiatives, communications, earned media, and / or issue advocacy campaigns.

LSG’s collaborative work environment thrives on in-person interaction. This position is expected to be in the Washington, D.

C. office Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of integrated public affairs and communications campaigns by overseeing the development and execution of client and field deliverables and programming.
  • Manage LSG’s 50-state network of external field operatives that specialize in media relations, government affairs, and grassroots mobilization for various communications, public affairs, and issue advocacy campaigns.
  • Track client deliverables and oversee external field operatives to meet client objectives, guide state strategy, and recruit and engage state and local advocates, etc.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality communications materials, including messaging documents, talking points, lawmaker letters, ad copy, and press materials such as press releases, op-eds, LTEs, social media content, etc.
  • Lead the development and delivery of client reporting (written and verbal), including the management of weekly reports, key metrics, and client presentations.
  • Serve as a supervisor, helping to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to LSG’s managers and associates.
  • Staff client events that may require travel, providing real-time strategic counsel and logistical and on-the-ground support.
  • Maintain an active understanding of the federal and state legislative and political landscapes, particularly across key sectors relevant to the client portfolio.
  • Participate in new business development process by brainstorming, writing, and editing strategic plans and proposals for existing and prospective clients.

Qualifications

  • Director candidates should have 4-6 years of experience of experience in public affairs or issue advocacy, working on complex communications, public policy, or political campaigns.
  • Senior director candidates should have 5-8 years of experience in public affairs or issue advocacy, working on complex communications, public policy, or political campaigns.
  • Agency, political campaign, and / or project management experience where a candidate can demonstrate a proven ability to manage multi-faceted projects is required.
  • Prior experience managing external field operatives and / or grassroots mobilization campaigns is required.
  • Proven writing and editing capabilities to support the development of various high-quality materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively, ensuring work product is relevant, inspiring, and impactful.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and deliverables efficiently through systems and proper communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Salary Range : $80k-$170k
