Position Overview

Navistar has an exciting new opportunity for an Electric Vehicle and Diesel Technician to join our team at our Field Test site in Commerce City, Colorado near Denver.

The EV and Diesel Technician will service and repair complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and lend support with in-test inspections, diagnose, and perform standard mechanical and electrical vehicle repairs.

The Technician will help support Navistar’s Research and Development group on 1st shift. Navistar is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses and member of the Traton Group.

We are undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks and buses to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Responsibilities Diagnoses mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures and electrical troubleshooting using established procedures Performs maintenance, testing and calibration of repaired products Prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service ability issues May communicate with field-based technicians for details helpful to failure diagnostics or repair, but generally without direct client contact Repair and / or replace all components of diesel engines, hydraulic, air conditioning, electrical, and suspension systems, drive trains, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems Read, analyze, and interpret technical information from schematics, technical manuals, drawings and procedures, and governmental regulations Minimum Requirements Associate’s degree At least 3 years of experience supporting engineering activities and / or automotive or diesel mechanic experience OR At least 5 years of experience supporting engineering activities and / or automotive or diesel mechanic experience Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.

Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Previous mechanic experience involving commercial truck and engine assembly, repair, and fabrication Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostics background Vehicle experience that includes some of the following : commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, or agriculture vehicles Experience with alternative fuels, including EV (electric vehicles), and / or Propane Experience with Cummins / Allison / Eaton / Duramax Training / Education as a Truck mechanic, and as a Diesel Engine mechanic Experience with welding fabrication with Tig, Mig, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene Welding skills & plasma cutting Knowledge of multimeter and / or module programming, standard electronic diagnostics equipment Prior dealership or fleet service experience Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint Benefits and Compensation Navistar provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices.

The annual salary range for this role is $65K 83K a year and is overtime eligible. Company Overview Navistar, Inc.
