Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Controls architecture for large multiple module system and the engineering team.
  • Program control systems for cam, servo, and air operated stations, along with test and electrical devices.
  • Coach peers in all aspects of machine design, programming, and organization and contribute to the development of Controls Engineers.
  • Writes and debugs PLC, robot, machine vision, and PC-based object-oriented code.
  • Programs HMI devices with ease of operation in mind.
  • Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
  • Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate BBS Automation standards, GAMP5 and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components.
  • Create functional specifications, flow diagrams, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics.
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.
  • Guide Electricians in wiring and codes. Support software validation requirements.
  • Continues open discussions with Controls Engineering Manager and Controls Engineering Group Leaders on how to improve group dynamics, accuracy, reliability, ease of construction, durability, and throughput.
  • Clearly communicates project status updates and technical reports.
  • Participate in Proof of Principle studies and help with concepting new applications.
  • Work with suppliers to find / develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
  • Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget; Convey this urgency to others.
  • Problem-solve with Mechanical Builders, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineering and Build and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views.
  • Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of BBSC standards.
  • Support and participate in Quality Management Program.
  • Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery Operating Manuals.
  • Stays focused and understands the sense of urgency.
  • Works well in a team environment and promotes sharing of knowledge through training and mentoring.
  • Keeps abreast of current industry product developments.
  • Domestic or International travel or extend work day if required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related area
  • 10+ Years' experience in controls engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Rockwell PLCs w / Rockwell Kinetix servos
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Siemens PLCs w / Siemens Sinamics servos
  • Robot experience preferred
  • Vision experience preferred
  • Ignition experience preferred
  • Optional IT experience
  • Python scripting
  • AI / machine learning modelling for data analysis and predictive analytics
  • MySQL database and SQL language
  • C# (C-sharp) .Net object oriented programming
