Nurse Practitioner, Palliative Care (Full Time, Days)

At NorthBay Health the Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner works under the supervision of the Medical Director of Palliative Care. The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner reports to the Palliative Care Medical Director for all aspects of clinical practice. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to act as a clinical resource for the Palliative team members. The Nurse Practitioner meets with patients and families to discuss symptom management, advance care planning and treatment options. Accurate, timely and complete documentation is required. Involvement and communication with all team members is essential in discussing the care of patient and family issues. Involvement in accreditation preparation and survey, CMS audits and state survey as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education :   Masters required. Graduate of an accredited nursing program including an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Licensure / Certification :   Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and Board Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board within one year of hire. Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR.     DEA Certificate, and Controlled Substance License as schedule 2 drugs and above. Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications. Valid California driver’s license.  Automobile insurance meeting agency guidelines.
• Experience :   Minimum of 3 years of experience highly preferred.  One (1) year or more in palliative care or hospice required.
• Skills :    Excellent listening, verbal, writing and observation skills. Ability to remain objective and non-judgmental. Ability and willingness to work with the growth and development needs of patients and families and the PC service. Ability to manage a chaotic and / or stressful work environment related to patients and families in crisis.

• Hours of Work :  Workdays / shifts may vary based on business need.
• Compensation :  Compensation : $83.93 - $109.32 (based on years of experience as a NP)
