The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment. This role inspects and maintains all plastic injection molding machines, associated equipment, and plant infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. The Maintenance Technician III plays a key role in reducing downtime, improving machine performance, and ensuring all equipment and facility standards remain in technical compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Follows all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoots non-functioning components (e.g., servos, sensors, and control components).
- Logs equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to maximize functionality.
- Identifies root causes of downtime, poor production performance, non-conforming product, and scrap.
- Diagnoses, analyzes, and repairs electro-mechanical and instrumentation equipment using meters, gauges, and other testing methods.
- Assembles experimental circuitry or prototype models according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and system knowledge.
- Recommends design or circuitry modifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Troubleshoots and repairs solid-state motor drives, temperature controllers, and computer-based controllers.
- Analyzes and interprets data from drives, controllers, scope meters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Adjusts, calibrates, and aligns circuitry and components and records performance outcomes.
- Checks newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
- Performs required preventive maintenance assignments and completes documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicates safety, quality, and production concerns to team leaders and supervisors.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
- Provides engineers with the necessary information for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifies when equipment needs to be replaced and notifies the supervisor.
- Prepares work areas to ensure tools and materials are available and in proper working order.
- Assists in training new hires as required.
Competencies (Knowledge / Skills / Abilities) :
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Ability to perform IML (In-Mold Labeling) setup and troubleshooting.Basic knowledge of heat transfer machine setup and troubleshooting.Understanding of machines and tools, including their use, repair, and maintenance.Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and how they function.Comprehensive understanding of Food Safety, GMP, PRP, and HACCP requirements as they relate to food-contact packaging (in applicable facilities).Basic understanding of PLC programming and logic.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Education :
High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)Technical 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)Experience :
Minimum 3 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance (required)Minimum 2 years of experience related to electronics (preferred)Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry 25–50 pounds frequently and assist with lifting more than 75 pounds occasionally.Ability to perform work involving bending, stooping, stretching, and climbing ladders.Work performed in a manufacturing environment that may be hot or cold and requires PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.).
