What You Will Do

• Identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace by ensuring compliance with safety procedures in the plant.
• Know, understand, and communicate our safety policies and practices to team members; train and re-train on proper safety practices.
• Ensure team members comply with all company policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures.
• Follow directives regarding Safety, Health, and Environmental issues from Site Management, Area Management, Division Management, VP, and Technical Services.
• Maintain regular communication with Site Manager and Safety / Technical Services teams.
• Report all accidents and first aid using established reporting SOPs, including "caught-in" type accidents.
• Perform investigations at the plant level for severe injuries, OSHA complaints, and cross-department support as needed.
• Ensure investigations are followed up with an action plan and successful completion.
• Perform weekly safety audits, assist operations with corrective actions, and report findings to management.
• Exercise independent judgment in enforcing safety and, when necessary, disciplinary action for safety violations.
• Complete In-Plant Safety Specialist on-the-job training and contribute to safety awareness, training consistency, safety performance metrics, and knowledge of management and team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Your Must Haves

Our Environment

This position reports to a processing facility that may have hot, cold, and wet conditions where the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. PPE may include hard hat, rain gear, boots, goggles, gloves, etc.
