American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU night shift position requiring cardiac and advanced critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the ICU department of an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation20 bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 5 for all shiftsNight shifts from 18 : 00 to 06 : 30, four 12-hour shifts per weekCare for adult critical care patients with cardiac, neurological, renal, and complex respiratory needsFloating within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals is required as neededEvery other weekend rotation requiredUses Cerner EMR; prior experience requiredResponsibilities include managing critically ill patients with advanced monitoring and interventionsWill be part of a collaborative ICU team with access to support during shiftsRoyal blue scrubs required for all staffFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyMust be able to work at least 2 of 3 major holidays if scheduledLocals accepted with no distance radius restrictionsCandidates cannot have been a permanent or PRN employee of the health system in the past 12 monthsRTO up to 5 days is generally permitted; more requires approvalParking is free with permit obtained during orientation\n \n Requirements\n
Active Illinois RN license required at time of applicationMinimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experienceCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or Red Cross (RQI cards not accepted)Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKGs, and cardiac interventionsProficiency in pre / post cardiac cath care, central / arterial / PICC line management, blood product administration, and IV therapyExperience with titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, and emergency medicationsExperience managing CVA / acute stroke, chronic / acute renal failure, ventilators, BiPAP / CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioningFamiliarity with infection prevention, isolation precautions, use of PPE, code blue, and rapid response protocols\n Benefits\n
