Summary of the Job

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Systems Administrator is responsible for implementation, installation, configuration and maintenance of server hardware, software and infrastructure systems. The position will work closely with the Engineering group, System Security and Level 2 business areas supporting our systems and applications following established guidelines, change control and project management programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage physical and virtual server environment, network shares, and system security.
  • Patch and vulnerability management of servers, networks gear and workstations.
  • Administration of network servers, server operating systems and SAN Storage.
  • Administration of enterprise network backup systems.
  • Perform installation, configuration, updates and performance tuning of systems and software.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and managing system installations and upgrades.
  • Work with vendors and developers supporting systems remotely.
  • Provide technical support and training to system users as required.
  • Interface with business areas to support their specific product requirements.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation.
  • Monitor systems and resolve complex problems.
  • Participate in projects and make recommendations as needed to ensure successful completion.
  • Assist with the evaluation of new business software and make recommendations for enterprise usage.
  • Member of the on-call duty rotation; responsibilities include evaluating and responding to network alerts and performing after-hours site visits to diagnose problems and implement solutions with minimal disruption to users or customers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • System Administration : Provides support in the daily maintenance of Windows operating systems, databases, backup systems, email systems and documentation.
  • User Interface : Provides effective user interface to support product requirements and ensure quality product delivery. Backup to Level 2 Support Group.
  • New Technologies : Evaluates and recommends hardware and software for system upgrades.
  • Training : Effectively trains systems users.
  • Currency : Keeps abreast of technological trends in the field and pursues and applies updated developments as appropriate.
  • Maintenance : Responsible for system upgrade planning and notification to client base.
  • EEO : Acts affirmatively in all activities under his / her control in conformance with the Bank's goals and objectives.
  • Minimum Knowledge / Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Systems support role OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Systems support role.
  • 2 years of experience as a system administrator or system engineer.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Technical skills / knowledge should include : Windows operating systems, Active Directory knowledge, networking fundamentals, client / server relational databases, enterprise backup technologies.
