The Department of Corrections is seeking a dynamic and driven Utility Plant Operator to join our physical plant team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for overseeing an inmate work crew in the performance of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler plant equipment at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will guide an inmate work crew in the maintenance and operation of boilers, generators, and related equipment under normal and emergency conditions. You will utilize manual and automatic control operation systems while reading and interpreting gauges and sensing devices. Duties include performing scheduled and non-routine maintenance and operational assessments, as well as cleaning and maintaining equipment to ensure proper functionality. Additionally, you will operate and maintain auxiliary equipment such as pumps, draft fans, control equipment, and ash systems. This role requires your ability to work independently to analyze problems and implement technical decisions to ensure continued operation of plant equipment.
