Applies Data Science and Machine Learning techniques to implement the IOC vision for an industry-leading analytics capability to assess performance and improve decision makingEngages in a broad spectrum of data science activities including data wrangling, building descriptive and predictive data models, visualization, development of recommendations, and presenting to business stakeholdersCreates compelling and holistic data stories for communicating and visualizing insights around operational disruptionsResearches current practices and industry trends and keeps abreast of latest advances in data science techniques and Cloud-based data analytics to solve complex airline operations problemsCollaborates with airports, government agencies, research institutions, and business partners to enhance and accelerate the IOC Analytics visionEstablishes connections with all levels and job functions within the IOC organization from front-line team members to senior leadership to gain valuable insights into opportunities, data, people, and processesCollaborates with IT to build data lake of airline operational data; explore and engineer innovative data sources into self-service data lake patternsActs as an agent of change to help establish American Airlines as an industry leader in operational performance and continuous improvementAll you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Decision Sciences, Statistics, etc.)Experienced with Machine Learning, Data Science, and AI-driven techniquesExpertise in at least one computer programming / scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Java, C++) and experience using data analytics software tools to analyze large data setsPractical experience in data extraction, engineering, cleansing, analysis, and visualizationPractical experience with Big Data and Data Lake technologiesPreferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure platformFamiliarity with DatabricksExperience with visualization design and UX2-5 years of experience in a technical / quantitative professional environmentFamiliarity with airline operations, Air Traffic Control, and Air Traffic Flow management conceptsFamiliarity with behavioral science or contextual inquiry principlesWhat you'll get
