Since 1963, Sheakley has been a trusted leader in safety management across construction, industrial, and high-risk environments. We are hiring a Bilingual Safety Manager to support a mechanical contractor on a utility-scale solar installation project in Coldwater, MI. This role is ideal for experienced safety professionals with solar and mechanical backgrounds who can lead daily safety activities, enforce compliance, and ensure safe execution of project work.
The Safety Manager will provide daily onsite oversight, conduct audits and inspections, and work closely with contractors and crews to sustain a proactive safety culture throughout the project.
Compensation
💲 Local Rate : $49–$54 / hr
💲 Traveler Rate : $46–$48 / hr + $178 daily per diem
💲 Overtime : After 10 hours (Mon–Fri), weekends paid at overtime
💸 Pay Frequency : Weekly
🚗 Perks : Company vehicle, fuel card, and laptop provided
Schedule
🕒 Hours : 60+ hours / week
📅 Schedule : Monday–Saturday (6x10s) with strong chance of Sunday work
Project Scope
This assignment supports the installation of solar equipment and panels, including :
Overseeing daily solar construction and mechanical activities
Leading safety meetings, orientations, and toolbox talks
Conducting job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and inspections
Enforcing OSHA, site-specific, and client safety protocols
Coordinating safety documentation and compliance across multiple contractors
Monitoring hazard controls, corrective actions, and safety reporting
Qualifications
✅ Must be bilingual (Spanish / English)
✅ OSHA 30 with minimum 3+ years of safety experience
✅ Solar construction and mechanical contractor experience required
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✅ Ability to work with multiple contractors and subcontractors
✅ OSHA 500 or BCSP certification preferred (not required)
✅ HammerTech experience preferred
✅ Strong understanding of solar technology and installation practices
Knowledge Base
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction standards with emphasis on :
Solar installation safety and mechanical equipment oversight
Multi-contractor project safety coordination
Hazard recognition, inspections, and corrective actions
Lockout / Tagout, hot work, and confined space safety
Documentation and reporting systems (HammerTech preferred)
