Recreation Aide [0605 / 25 / 32]

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Recreation Aide (PT) performs a variety of tasks in support of assigned recreation facility operations; provides customer service to recreation facility patrons and the general public; responds to routine recreation inquiries; assists with recreation programming and events; participates in cleaning and maintaining assigned recreation facilities; and performs other related duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assists with developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating recreation programs.
• Assists with evaluating class instructors; developing instructor schedules and fees; preparing program information for brochure publication and registration; enrolls participants; informs participants of class changes, cancellations, and refunds.
• Assists in preparing and maintaining attendance records on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for classes and programs. Helps prepare and maintain daily revenue reports for class and program revenues.
• Physically adapts facility for daily programs, activities, and special events.
• Serve as recreation center lead in absence of full-time staff. (Knowledge of centers policies / procedures required.)
• Assists in maintaining all recreation class programs, registrations, instructors, and facility schedules utilizing the department designated software.
• Assists in the coordination of work activities for seasonal staff, contract instructors, and volunteers.
• Answers questions and provides information to the public regarding activities, classes and programs.
• Assists in planning and organizing seasonal activities for center participants, including summer camp, rentals, etc.

EQUIPMENT USE REQUIREMENTS :

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

High school diploma or equivalent is required plus six (6) months experience in providing recreation programs preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be at least 18 years of age and must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting and reaching are required. Repetitive movement of wrist and fingers during computer data input is required. Maintains static posture during sitting. 50-100% computer use. Occasional lifting loads up to 55 lbs.; carrying 55 lbs. up to 20 feet; pushing / pulling 75 lbs.; gripping / rotating hand tools; stair / step climbing; working in outside temperatures including excess heat, cold, and precipitation.
