Job Overview
The QA Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing test tools, contributing to automation strategies, and overseeing performance testing to ensure scalable and reliable software delivery. This role includes managing test environments to support consistent, stable, and efficient testing across all phases of development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle and drive continuous improvement. The position also contributes to shaping the future vision of QA practices through innovation, metrics-driven insights, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Automated Test and Performance Test Oversight & Strategy : Works with leadership to drive QA enterprise strategy. Identifies suitable test cases for automation, designing and documenting test automation strategies. Gathers non-functional requirements, analyzes critical business scenarios, understands service level agreement (SLA) objectives, and creates comprehensive performance test strategies and plans.
- Has expertise with a variety of industry tools, strong technical skills with script development, review, and maintenance using various scripting languages. Builds automation frameworks to support different testing layers (UI, API, database). Performs performance scripting using tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, incorporating features such as parameterization, checkpoints, transactions, and reusable functions.
- Serves as backup and escalation point for performance test engineers and automation analysts.
Test Environment Management
Sets up and configures necessary test environments, including allocation, configuration management, and ensuring production-like environments in lower instances.Tool Administration
Ensures tool administration and maintenance across the QA function, including automated and performance test tools, Mobile Center, and server upkeep to ensure enterprise-level consistency.Collaboration & Communication
Works closely with product teams to understand requirements and application architecture to ensure software quality. Collaborates with developers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions. Coordinates with onsite and offshore teams focused on performance and automation testing. Performs script reviews and provides coaching to ensure standards are maintained.Continuous Improvement
Stays updated on industry trends, tools, AI influences on automation and performance testing, and continuously improves existing tests and processes.Required Technical Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing, automation scripting, and performance testing.Experience working with external resources for testing and reporting.Experience in test automation strategy and development.Proficiency with OpenText tools (ALM, UFT, LoadRunner).Understanding of SDLC / STLC.Required Education
BS / BA in MIS, Computer Science, Business, or Mathematics.Other Key Qualifications
