Sparks Group has partnered with a respected higher education facility to recruit a dedicated and detail-oriented Instructional Lab Assistant. Together, we are seeking a candidate who will play a key role in supporting instructional laboratory operations. This position involves preparing lab environments for classroom instruction, assisting faculty and students with technical needs, and maintaining lab equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in laboratory procedures, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in an academic setting.
Responsibilities :
- Set up and break down laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and exercises.
- Prepare chemical solutions and reagents for instructional use.
- Clean and store laboratory glassware and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on lab equipment.
- Dispose of hazardous and medical waste according to regulations.
- Maintain safety data sheets and ensure lab safety compliance.
- Feed and care for live organisms or biological specimens as needed.
- Receive, unpack, and organize deliveries of lab materials.
- Monitor and inventory lab equipment and supplies.
- Inspect and test safety equipment regularly.
- Assist instructors and students during lab sessions to ensure safety and proper equipment use.
- Provide input for updating lab preparation guides and materials.
- May supervise student lab assistants and maintain usage statistics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Background Profile :
Bachelor’s degree in a related academic field.Minimum of two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience.Knowledge of lab safety protocols, chemical handling, and equipment maintenance.Familiarity with instructional technology and lab materials.Proficiency in Windows-based applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.Strong communication skills (written and verbal).Ability to recognize and mitigate safety hazards.Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Ability to lift and move objects weighing 20–50 pounds regularly.Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures.OSHA training or knowledge of OSHA laboratory standards may be required.This job is In-Person.
Pay Range : Hourly $22.00 to $22.00
