American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join the ICU unit for night shifts, requiring at least 2 years of acute care ICU experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Position is in the ICU of an acute care hospitalICU with 44 licensed beds, currently using 36Patient ratios are 1 : 2 or 1 : 1Nurse-to-patient assignments exclude fresh open heart or craniotomy patientsCommon cases include cardiac, PCI, open heart, sepsis, stroke, CABG, stents, balloon pumps, cath lab, and craniotomies12-hour night shifts with every other weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) requiredNo self-scheduling; fixed shift times 0645-1915 / 1845-0715Floating required to Telemetry and ER for ICU HoldsCerner PowerChart EMR system is usedDrips include vasopressors, nitro, heparin, and othersVentilator management requiredMonitor tech present with 44 hardwired GE monitorsCharge nurse does not take a patient assignmentRT and pharmacy are available 24 / 7Assigned patients will not include fresh open heart or craniotomy casesTravelers are expected to work holidays as per permanent staff rotationCompassion and high patient satisfaction focus are essentialScrub color requirement is navy blueOrientation includes one day on ICU and one shift on the Tele / stepdown unitFirst to float among staffNo IV team; unit tech provides secretary and equipment dutiesMust pass required clinical tests prior to start, with a maximum of two attempts\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license, state or compact; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of acute care ICU experience (3 years preferred, or 2 years at a large institution)Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CCRN preferredMust provide two references : one supervisor within the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer within the past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibilityDocumentation required : government-issued photo IDExperience with Cerner EMR is preferredRelias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique tests required for Sacramento, CA region and Arizona rolesMay not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the last year if applying as a returning traveler\n Benefits\n
