Data Expert Subject Matter Expert

Data Expert Subject Matter Expert (SME), Veterans Affairs Position Summary Cetechs is seeking Data Expert SME to serve as a national authority on healthcare data analytics within the VA, leading teams in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare data to support VHA leadership in decision-making, quality improvement, and policy advancement.

Key Responsibilities Plan and execute methodologies for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting data relevant to VA health programs.

Lead complex analytic projects and provide expert consultation on the use of data for program analysis, policy development, and operational improvement.

Develop, maintain, and optimize large data systems—including database management, survey methodologies, and advanced statistical modeling.

Present findings to senior leaders, translating data analytics into actionable recommendations for healthcare operations and strategic planning.

Ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance with federal standards throughout all data management activities.

Coordinate project implementation and reporting, including milestones, risk assessment, and communication with project leadership.

Lead in the design and development of data-driven solutions using AI, machine learning, and other advanced analytics tools.

Supervise, mentor, and train data analysts and support staff in proper methodologies and VA mission alignment.

Required Qualifications Advanced degree in data science, statistics, computer science, health informatics, or a related field.

Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in statistical analysis, database management, and healthcare data interpretation within a hospital, health system, or related agency.

Expert proficiency with analytic software (e.g., SAS, SQL Server, Access) and healthcare data sets.

Skills & Competencies Mastery of data analysis, modeling, and visualization techniques.

Exceptional project management, communication, and leadership ability.

Ability to supervise teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of healthcare policy, performance data, and regulatory requirements.
