Description
Responsible for fitting and welding carbon steel and stainless steel parts, ensuring work meets specifications for quality, accuracy, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit, position, and tack weld parts using jigs, fixtures, or clamps.
- Select appropriate torch, filler material, and settings based on material types and specifications.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and other welding techniques—including overhead and vertical welds.
- Inspect completed welds for structural integrity and compliance with quality standards.
- Grind, chip, and clean welds and workpieces as required for finish or further assembly.
- Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and weld maps to ensure accuracy.
- Track materials used and maintain accurate production records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform minor machining operations and operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment safely.
- Follow all safety procedures and company quality standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support team and production goals
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
High school diploma or GED required.1–3 months of relevant welding experience preferred.ASME Section IX welding certification preferred.Proficiency with welding tools, inspection instruments, and basic manual machining.Strong understanding of metalworking, part setup, and rigging techniques.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and AWS welding symbols.Familiarity with Microsoft Office; experience with Epicor ERP system is a plus.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.FS-Elliott is a global leader in the engineering and manufacturing of oil-free, centrifugal compressors with operations in over 90 countries.
