Pharmacy Technician

Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for our Outpatient Pharmacy at Norfolk General Hospital.

Location : Norfolk General Hospital

Status : Flexi / PRN (8 hrs / week with opportunities to pick up additional hours)

Shift : Rotating 8 hr Shifts

Hours : 8 : 45am-7 : 15pm

Occasional Saturdays and Holidays

The Pharmacy Tech II performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
• Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice
• Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions
• Assumes local and / or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions
• Participates in the training of new employees
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist / licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)
• 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
