The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Recovery Surgeon to join our dedicated team. Reporting to the President / CEO and VP / Chief Clinical Officer, this physician will play a critical role in organ donation and transplantation by performing surgical recovery of abdominal organs, intraoperative donor assessments, and collaborating with transplant partners. This position offers the opportunity to impact lives daily, contribute to innovation in donation practices, and advance the field through participation in leading industry organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform surgical recovery of abdominal organs (liver, kidneys, pancreas) from deceased donors (DBD and DCD).
- Conduct intraoperative donor assessments, organ biopsies, and evaluate anatomical or pathological findings.
- Ensure compliance with national standards, regulatory guidelines, and Infinite Legacy policies.
- Collaborate closely with donor hospitals, transplant teams, and the Clinical Recovery team to ensure safe, high-quality recovery services.
- Support organ labeling, preservation, and normothermic regional perfusion as needed.
- Participate in recovery of tissues and research organs when requested.
- Contribute to organizational leadership by attending team meetings, planning sessions, and maintaining engagement in industry associations (e.g., NATCO, AOPO, AATB, UNOS).
What We’re Looking For
Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program.Minimum 3 years of experience performing organ recovery (DBD / DCD) and / or transplantation surgeries in the U.S.Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia.Strong surgical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse clinical teams.Commitment to Infinite Legacy’s mission and values, with resilience to work in a high-acuity, emotionally significant field.Why Join Infinite Legacy?
