About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Tech

Profession : Surgical Services

Duration : 17 weeks

Shift : Day 3x12-Hour (06 : 40 - 19 : 10); Day 3x12-Hour (10 : 40 - 23 : 10)

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required.

License : BLS certification required.

Certifications : BLS must be certified through American Heart Association only.

Must-Have : Successfully completed a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in a surgical technologist role may be considered in lieu of the completion of the program.

Description :

The Surgical Technologist prepares the Operating Room prior to surgery.

They promote the safety of the patient during surgery.

They provide assistance to the surgeon during surgery.

They care for the patient during surgery and manage the instruments and supplies used.

The Surgical Technologist functions to ensure the safety of the patient as a member of the surgical team.

They possess knowledge and skills required to effectively care for patients of all age groups, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Weekday and weekend call are required for the GU / GYN / transplant team.

Experience includes kidney transplant, robot-assisted surgeries, urological surgeries, and various gynecological procedures.

Travelers may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on current staffing needs.

Floating may occur if the primary unit no longer has a need.

Weekend coverage and call requirements are part of the position.

The incumbent will undergo pass / fail testing with strict passing criteria.

A telemetry exam will be required prior to start.

Travelers will orient and train as per department-specific schedules.

Competency renewal is required for active telemetry.
