A Lab Assistant I - Phlebotomist performs adult and pediatric Phlebotomy, in addition to daily tasks including centrifuging, aliquoting and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system. Accurately register patients, insurance verification and verifying all patient demographics.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Performs proper venipuncture and post care of phlebotomy site along with labeling each specimen with 2 forms of ID with zero labeling errors.
• Perform registration and requisitioning and proper use of Meditech, Accureg and Cayuga connect. Participates in quality assurance and maintains inter and intra departmental work flow.
• Helps minimize butterfly usage throughout the PSC's, maintains professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Maintains adequate inventory and all checklists and is able to troubleshoot when temperatures are out of range and assist with daily, weekly and monthly checklist completion.
• Maintains a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, HIPPAA standards and safety guidelines.
