Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 20 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med / Surg RN with an active IL license and BLS certification for a night shift assignment in an acute care setting. Responsibilities Work in an acute care medical-surgical unit with a 29-bed capacity and an average census of 22-26 patients Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5 : 1 during the day and 5-6 : 1 at night Patient population includes cases such as GI bleeds, sepsis, CHF, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, elderly falls, DVT, pulmonary embolism, and others RNs are required to titrate heparin drips and perform IV starts Uses EPIC EMR system 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend requirement Holiday coverage is rotated among staff Travel RNs are required to float to other med / surg units as needed, but not to ICU or chemo units No on-call or standby required Charge RN coverage is available 24 / 7 and typically does not take a patient assignment 24-hour patient care tech support and crisis RN coverage provided Orientation consists of 2 shifts before assuming independent patient care RNs are responsible for IV starts, with phlebotomy team support available for blood draws Any color scrubs may be worn except pediatric prints; scrubs are not provided First time travelers are accepted for this position Local rates apply to candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg RN experience required Must be able to titrate heparin drips and perform IV starts Experience using EPIC EMR is preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-617823.
