Brief Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Mental Health programs. This role is responsible for assessing and monitoring the psychiatric, medical, and social needs of individuals, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate psychiatric and medical treatment, and supporting staff development around safe medication practices. The LPN will also provide training with a focus on health and wellness to ensure high-quality care and outcomes.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Provide nursing care services within the scope of nursing practice, the Nurse Practice Act, and agency standards.
Use professional nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in all responsibilities.
Respond promptly to emergency health care needs of individuals.
Perform health screenings and document individual health status.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately.
Educate individuals on treatment methods prescribed by physicians.
Promote and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals.
Monitor and clinically guide support personnel in delegated nursing tasks.
Provide health instruction and information to individuals and staff to promote wellness and illness prevention.
Lead groups related to medication psychoeducation, nutrition, hygiene, and other wellness topics.
Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and team members.
Attend and actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate knowledge of mental health diagnoses, symptomology, prognosis, medications, and treatments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
CPR / First Aid certification required.
Physical Demands
May require physical interventions.
Ability to lift and assist individuals with self-care as needed.
Working Environment
Mental Health Program settings.
