Did you just complete your 1st year of Nursing School? We are growing our Nurse Technician team! If you are actively enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at an accredited school and have completed at least one academic term, which included a clinical component then this is a great opportunity for you! Summer orientation and onboarding is a great way to get started after next semester. Flexible work shifts once school resume!

As a Nurse Technician , you will be responsible for providing nursing care and support to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a defined care team and in accordance with the scope of practice. The nursing student in this position reports to the Nursing Department Director.

This is an on-call, hospital-based, hourly position working variable shifts / days.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES :

• Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges under the direction of licensed RN. Activities include assessing patient, inventory / storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care / comfort items, orienting patient / family and transporting patient to room or other location using wheelchairs, stretchers, or patient bed
• Performs and documents all clinical activities within scope of practice.
• Observes and reports changes in patient care to the RN.
• Obtains, labels, and transports a variety of samples (e.g. urine, stool, sputum, specimens, and blood products).
• Communicates effectively with the care team in order to develop an effective interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
• Maintains a neat and organized work environment.
• Orders, stocks, and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
• Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to : security and safety, understanding of SDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
• Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
• Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
• Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
• Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
