Job Title
Mobile Building Engineer
This position supports the Assistant and / or Chief Engineer and Sr. Facilities Manager in the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment on behalf of the client. The Engineer will perform routine operation, inspection, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to obtain efficient operation and life expectancy. The role includes ensuring energy-efficient and safe operation, reducing downtime, and maintaining records of past operating experiences. The Engineer will uphold high ethical standards in line with C&W policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
- Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior / exterior repair, and related grounds as it pertains to assigned client buildings.
- Perform major HVAC repairs including compressor replacement, condenser replacement, evaporator coil replacement, condenser coil replacement, etc.
- Perform major plumbing replacements including domestic water piping, steam trap repairs, sewage line repairs, bathroom fixture repairs, etc.
- Perform electrical repairs including running and bending conduit, pulling cables, panel maintenance, motor maintenance, and predictive maintenance.
- Conduct facility inspections and due diligence efforts; report on conditions impacting client occupancy and operations.
- Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and lines used for steam and heated / processed water distribution.
- Operate, maintain, and repair refrigerant systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, pumps, expansion valves, and related lines and devices for temperature control and air conditioning.
- Operate, maintain, and repair pumps handling water or secondary refrigerants, with all valves and lines involved.
- Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors and related distribution lines and valves for air control.
- Operate, maintain, and repair water filters, softeners, piping, pumps, sinks, toilets, supply and drain lines, control devices, and sprinkler systems.
- Operate, maintain, and repair electrical motors and engines powering pumps, compressors, and fans.
- Maintenance of elevators, except where serviced by specialized contractors.
- Operate, maintain, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data panels, sensors, and indicators.
- Operate, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer systems and sump pumps, including basins and fixtures.
- Maintain and repair trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and repair kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned equipment).
- Recommend improvements to the preventive maintenance program on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain stock and inventory control.
- Comply with applicable codes, regulations, government directives, and company safety policies.
- Familiarize with equipment at assigned locations, including building automation systems, fire / life safety, and other building equipment as needed.
- Keep management informed of current operations by compiling and submitting monthly reports.
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping; recognize hazards and apply proper PPE as needed.
- Respond to emergencies; may require light travel during emergency events.
- Maintain all required Federal, State, or Local licenses for assigned locations; complete all required C&W Safety Training annually.
- Comply with C&W Uniform Dress Code.
- General maintenance tasks may include but are not limited to : repairs on toilet facilities, registers and radiators, lighting replacements, ceiling tile removal, minor furniture / floor repairs, door hardware maintenance, HVAC filter replacement, general cleaning in mechanical spaces, and basic handyman work.
- Note : Candidate will be assigned a company vehicle for this mobile role. Maintain and ensure current vehicle maintenance with C&W vendor (Element) and keep registration, insurance, and inspections current. Ensure expenses are processed through Element or C&W Workday Expense Reimbursement.
- Depending on region, may perform maintenance in client Controlled Environmental Vault locations; these may be underground and require additional safety measures. These locations are critical to the client's network and require regular maintenance.

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical path to acquire knowledge and abilities would include :
Education : A High School Diploma or GED is required. Apprentice program or trade school is preferred.
Years of Relevant Experience : Minimum four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering with a strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and equipment maintenance background.
Licenses or Certifications : Valid state driver's license; location-appropriate trade license / permit; Universal certification for EPA 608 refrigerants (CFC / HFC).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience in operation, maintenance, and basic repair of HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, gas lines, and water systems. Knowledge of energy management systems and building systems operations. Excellent interpersonal skills. Basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and familiarity with mobile devices and online meeting tools.
Physical Work Requirements
Environment : Professional office or commercial building environment; may involve loud music with power equipment, extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, and other hazards. PPE may be required. Travel between properties may be needed.
Physical : Considerable physical activity; ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, stoop, and move equipment; ability to stand for long periods and drive up to 4–5 hours daily. Clear speech and reading ability required.
Vision / Hearing : Normal vision and hearing with or without correction.
Scheduling
Most schedules follow typical business hours by location. May work extended periods without relief during emergencies; may require shift work, on-call duties, and overtime. May support after-hours / weekends building activity as required and respond to client callbacks for repairs or emergencies.

Cushman & Wakefield provides eligible employees with a variety of benefits and competitive pay, which vary by location and other factors. The compensation for this role ranges from $36.55 to $43.00 per hour and will be described during the offer process. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
