Description : Job Summary :
Under general supervision, the Operating Engineer performs a variety of routine or skilled preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration, and modification of buildings, equipment, and facilities.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
- Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and condition.
- Maintains records and determines malfunctions of equipment.
- Adjusts, disassembles, repairs, or replaces parts, and tests for proper operation.
- Reports serious problems to the Chief Engineer.
- Attends to boilers, heaters, and related equipment, making necessary adjustments.
- Tests boiler water and adds chemicals as necessary.
- Services and repairs HVAC and refrigeration equipment, replacing filters and fluids.
- Performs general maintenance and repairs on machinery, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Performs routine electrical maintenance, plumbing, welding, and manual duties such as moving supplies and replacing bulbs.
- Establishes and maintains courteous relations with personnel and the public.
- Performs other related duties as required and assumes additional responsibilities as directed.
Basic Qualifications :
3-5 years of experience in Building Plant Operations and Maintenance within the last year.Education :
Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering or related disciplines in Plant Operations, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or equivalent.License, Certification, Registration :
Steam Engineer Unlimited License (California) OR Los Angeles Steam Engineer 500 HP License.Driver's License (if applicable).Universal Chlorofluorocarbons Certificate within six months of hire.Additional Requirements :
Knowledge of equipment, controls, and building automation maintenance.Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.Ability to work in a Labor / Management Partnership environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Unlimited Steam Engineer / Boiler Operator License.Details :
