Job Summary : As a member of St. James Hospital Department of Physical Therapy you will serve the Hornell and surrounding communities in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. You will work with people of all ages and abilities to maximize their quality of life. You will be responsible for the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, interventions, and outcomes for patients with a variety of neurological, orthopedic, sports medicine, and vestibular conditions. Requirements
Education & Experience
Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association with a minimum of a bachelor's degree although a master's / doctorate degree is preferred.
Licenses and / or Certifications
New York State physical therapy license or eligible for licensing as limited by the New York State Physical Therapy Practice Act for the continuance of employment.
Maintains a valid BLS / CPR Certification
Physical Demands
The ability to stand, walk and stoop most of the day. This position requires physical effort with patients having varying degrees of physical impairments. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally perform team lifts with weights up to 400lbs. Equipment will be available to assist as needed.
Language Ability
Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English. Ability to effectively communicate to patients, family members, staff, and physicians.
Math Ability
Basic math skills and competency in creating figures such as proportions, percentages, rates, and / or ratios.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to work in a harmonious manner with all other departments. Must be able to map out assignments and complete them in a timely manner.
Working Conditions
Work within the outpatient physical therapy department in the Medical Office Building 90-95% of the time. Physical Therapists will also work with patients at bedside in the Emergency Department and Medical / Surgical Department 5-10% of the time. There is potential for exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases, and medical waste. Airborne, contact, droplet, and isolation precautions may be required at times and you will observe universal precautions at all times.
