About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 36 Guaranteed

Experience : Minimum 1.5 years of experience required

License : Registered Nurse (RN) - approved by a board of nursing

Certifications : BLS, NRP, STABLE (preferred)

Must-Have :

Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing

Experience with vent management, IV starts, chest tubes, and IV medication titration

Experience with Neonatal Resuscitation preferred

Ability to work with neonates of all gestational ages

Description :

This position involves working within a NICU with a bed capacity of 28.

The average census is between 13 and 16 patients.

The unit takes care of neonates with various diagnoses including low birth weight and those requiring high-frequency ventilation.

No extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or cardiac surgery is performed in this unit.

Patient ratios are generally 1 registered nurse to between 1 and 4 patients.

Support staff includes certified nursing assistants with a ratio of 1 to 10, and one charge nurse for every 25 patients.

There are three neonatologists and ten neonatal nurse practitioners providing 24 / 7 coverage.

A transport team is available 24 / 7 for patient transfers.

Charting is done using an electronic health record system.

Travelers must be willing to float to other departments as needed.

Weekends are not mandatory, but scheduling may include weekend shifts.

Time off requests must be pre-approved by management.

Holiday shifts are expected during two out of four major holidays.
