Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriter Technician as part of our Financial Lines Business Unit.

Our business, your impact, our opportunity : This role is responsible for providing technical support to the Underwriter by assisting in evaluating the risk and the development and growth of the portfolio. In addition to helping manage client / broker expectations and adhering to internal service standards. Responsibilities may include account management, exposure rating, preparation and delivery of quotes, binders, policies, endorsements and service requests to both internal staff and external distribution partners within specific performance standards. This role also performs services including problem solving or research projects requiring insurance and procedural knowledge.

What you'll be doing :

• Assists in the underwriting, rating, pricing, and quoting workflows with underwriter supervision
• Contacts external distribution partners for any required or outstanding underwriting information; pre or post binding as needed to underwrite and complete file documentation
• Confirms underwriting terms and conditions and determines appropriate conditions for quote / binder / policy with the Underwriter's approval
• Rates various lines of business following set workflows and guidelines
• Pre-screens / pre-qualifies submission with little guidance
• Compiles quotes for the underwriter to review - Reviews and quotes assigned renewals with little direction
• Maintains renewal listing and follows up with producers as necessary for renewal information
• Reviews loss information
• Returns of calls and e-mails promptly and in all cases, within 24 hours of receipt
• Responsible for policy file organization and maintenance
• Various other duties as assigned by underwriters and operations manager

What you'll bring :

Salary Range : $70,000 $85,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
