Responsibilities Work in an observation unit caring for Med / Surg Tele and oncology patients Typical patient ratios are 1 : 4 with additional RN, PCA, and UCA support Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30 Primary patient diagnoses include dehydration, chemotherapy / radiation symptom management, acute kidney injury, and palliative care needs Special procedures involve post-procedure care, PEG tube or line placement, and management of short stay patients May occasionally float to the ED to assist with Med / Surg Tele patients Orientation to the floated area will be provided Main responsibilities include providing efficient care to observation patients with short anticipated stays Team structure includes APPs and supervising MDs alongside nursing support RTO (requested time off) must be submitted when applying Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers Navy blue or white scrubs required; scrubs are not provided Strict compliance with OH fingerprinting process required upon offer Requirements Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Current BCLS certification required Preferred certifications include ACLS and OCN Minimum two years of relevant experience in Med / Surg Tele required Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, and PICC line management required Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required Accepts first-time travelers Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or charge RN Former employees eligible if away for at least 6 months; current employees at any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-607647.
