Unify was founded January 17th, 2023 by Austin Hughes and Connor Heggie. Prior to Unify, Austin led Ramp’s growth product team focused on new customer acquisition, and Connor was a machine learning research engineer at Scale AI . The rest of our team comes from companies like Airbnb , Spotify , Gusto and Retool .

Our mission is to build the first system-of-action for go-to-market teams, starting with an end to end platform powering warm outbound. Today, outbound sales is dominated by cold, mass outreach that floods people's inboxes and converts to deals at a tiny rate. We’re building a platform to power warm outbound, allowing go-to-market teams to get in touch with the right people at the exact time they’re looking for a solution.

About the role :

Unify is seeking a Head of Design to lead our Design team and champion the design function. This is a unique player-coach opportunity for a leader who can seamlessly blend strategic thinking with in-the-weeds execution to deliver truly intuitive and impactful product experiences.

This position is based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. We are a fully in-person company.

What you will do :

Define the Vision : own and articulate the overarching design vision and strategy for Unify, ensuring it aligns with our company goals and drives the future of our product.

Drive Craft & Quality : Champion and elevate the craft of design across the organization. You will be the standard-bearer for quality, establishing processes and systems that ensure we ship polished, thoughtful, and impactful work.

Lead & Develop a team of Designers : Lead, mentor, and grow our team of talented product designers. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture that empowers designers to do their best work. Develop career paths and growth opportunities for your team members.

Be a Strategic Partner : Act as a key member of the product leadership team, collaborating closely with peers in Product Management, Engineering, and Go-to-Market to shape our product roadmap and strategy.

Champion the User : Be the ultimate advocate for our users in all product decisions. Drive a culture of deep user empathy and leverage research and data to inform our design direction.

Scale Design Operations : Implement and refine design processes (UX research, prototyping, QA, and documentation), and systems to create efficiency and excellence as we scale.

Who you are :

7+ years of experience in product design, with a significant portion of that time spent working on complex B2B or SaaS products.

3+ years of design leadership experience, with a proven track record of building, managing, and developing high-performing teams.

A compelling portfolio or a demonstrated track record that showcases your ability to lead design for complex, large-scale products.

A strategic mindset with the ability to connect design decisions directly to business goals, user value, and long- term vision.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills; capable of clearly articulating vision and rationale to executive leadership, your team, and the entire company.

Deep empathy for users and a passion for solving complex problems with elegant, human-centered solutions.

A collaborative spirit, a low ego, and an eagerness to work in a transparent environment where feedback is shared openly and constructively.

About this role

This a salaried position with a target equity package and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options.
