Job Opportunity

Job Opportunity : Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Engineer specializing in the Property Construction segment supporting our rapidly growing Builder's Risk business. The position reports directly to the VP Risk Control, Energy and Construction, North America; however all Risk Engineers at BHSI are fully integrated with the Underwriting Team(s). Ideally, candidates would be located near an existing North American BHSI office in New York, Atlanta, or Toronto.

Responsibilities

• Support the Builder's Risk underwriting teams globally.
• Conduct technical desktop construction project reviews for the purposes of informing our underwriting teams so that we can underwrite risks profitably
• Attend occasional site visits for the purposes of improving our knowledge of the risk
• Support other lines of business as needed
• Communicate effectively with other risk engineers, the Underwriting team, the Valuation team, and the Claims team
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with customers when discussing findings, recommendations or seeking clarification while participating at site visits, or customer meetings, while being cognizant that we are representing BHSI in the marketplace

BHSI Offers

The base salary range for this position in New York is from $120K to $175k, along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate's salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
