Accounting Supervisor Construction

Accounting Supervisor Key Responsibilities

Construction Accounting & Project Costing

Oversee job cost accounting including budgets, forecasts, cost coding, and tracking of project expenditures.

Manage and review WIP schedules, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of project profitability and financial health.

Apply percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition methodologies in compliance with GAAP and company policy.

The Accounting Supervisor will partner with project managers to analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs, providing insights to improve margin performance.

Review contract terms, change orders, and billing schedules to ensure proper accounting treatment.

Month-End Close & Reporting

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for construction projects.

Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed job costing reports.

Ensure timely completion and accuracy of financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.

Assist with external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.

Leadership & Process Improvement

Supervise and mentor a small team of staff accountants and project billing specialists.

Develop and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and best practices specific to construction accounting.

Implement process improvements around job cost tracking, billing, and reporting to increase accuracy and efficiency.

Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, operations, and leadership teams to align financial reporting with business needs.

Accounting Supervisor Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a construction environment.

Proven expertise in WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and job costing.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction industry best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Salary $115-130K
