Responsibilities
The Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science (EOAS) at Florida State University (FSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Solid Earth Tectonics. Applicants are responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Applicant research methods may include field-based, laboratory, or numerical studies. Research themes of interest include orogenic processes, geodynamics, fundamental rock physics, seismogenesis, and other structural geology topics. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum including providing experiential learning experiences.
Qualifications
A PhD from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in Geosciences or a closely related discipline and a strong record of research that advances understanding of solid Earth and planetary processes and their surface expressions is required.

EOAS is housed in a new building (2020) with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, has 36 faculty members and 102 graduate students, and offers undergraduate and / or graduate degrees in Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, and Environmental Sciences. FSU is home to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory which houses a variety of sophisticated instrumentation, especially in electron microscopy and mass spectrometry.
