News 3 Now / WISC-TV is looking for a Weekend Sports Anchor / Reporter for “America’s greatest college sports town” — Madison, Wisconsin. The sports department aggressively covers the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and our local high school sports. If YOU love sports we want YOU to join our team.

News 3 Now produces more than 40 hours of television news a week, and we embrace coverage through our app, social, web site and streaming video channels resulting in a digital stronghold position in the market. The right candidate will innovate on TV as well as digital and social channels. We expect our coverage to meet consumers where they are and connect with them in convenient ways.

We’re looking for a dynamic, high-energy, engaging talent who can tell the stories behind the scores that attract both the sports addict and the non-sports enthusiast.

What You’ll Do

Write sports stories for newscasts digital platforms
Shoot, edit, & report live on deadline
Anchor weekend sportscasts
Fill-in as needed during the week
Publish content and generate story ideas through social media sites
Use social media to gather and share information
Work efficiently independently and with others in the sports department
Work closely with the Sports Director
Publish content and engage with audiences through social and digital channels

What You’ll Bring

4-year degree with an emphasis on journalism preferred

Prior experience as a television news or sports reporter preferred

Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to the on-air presentation of sports stories

Accurate and comprehensive writing, shooting, and editing skills

Ability and eagerness to develop community contacts and become actively involved in community

Ability to lift and carry camera equipment
