Description :

Inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality.

Determines the need for repair or replacement of instruments.

Validates completeness of sets and facilitates effective sterilization.

Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.

Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.

Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and instrument tracking systems.

Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.

Participates in assembly of case carts as needed.

Shift assignments will rotate between decontamination, preparation and assembly, steam and low-temperature sterilization duties.

The sterile processing department provides processing of instrumentation for various departments.

The department staffs three shifts, seven days a week with a combination of eight- and ten-hour shifts.
