POSITION SUMMARY :

Under the general supervision of the Public Works Operations Manager, and assigned under direct supervision of the Feet Manager and Shop Foreman, services and repairs city vehicles and other city-owned equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Safety practices and procedures

Light and heavy equipment and automotive apparatus

Communicate with immediate supervisors and other city employees

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Regularly walk, sit, stand, reach, use hands / finger to feel, handle, and grip, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must drive and sit for long periods of time. Constant exposure to wet and / or humid conditions. (Performance of duties may require working in varied weather conditions such as extreme cold or hot conditions.) Constant exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dusty or greasy conditions, and noise. Must lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. Must be available to respond to emergency call-outs 24 / 7 while on-call.
