American Traveler is hiring a Surgical ICU RN with at least 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license for a specialized critical care role.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) within a Level II Trauma CenterCare for trauma, post-cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgical, and complex surgical patientsAssignment includes management of cases such as TAVR, CABG, open heart recovery, multi-system organ failure, and CRRTTypical patient ratios are 1 : 2-3 in SICU and 1 : 3-4 when floating to step-downWeekend shifts are every other weekendNight shift schedule : 3x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 00On-call is not requiredFloating within scope may be required, including to affiliate hospitals as neededEMR system used is Epic and experience with it is preferredNavy blue scrubs are requiredResponsibilities include advanced monitoring, management of specialized post-surgical and trauma cases, and working closely with multidisciplinary teamsFirst-time travelers are accepted for this assignmentTravel pairs are not permitted on the SICU unitNo holiday time off requests will be approvedAll requests for time off must be listed up front and are subject to manager discretionLocal candidates are accepted at the same rate\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or compact RN license requiredCurrent ACLS and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years of recent SICU or relevant critical care experience requiredAbility to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and arterial linesExperienced in blood product administration and care of patients with acute ventilator needs, sepsis, unstable GI bleed, trauma, and other specialized diagnosesMust complete up to 8 hours of onboarding modules within 1 week of signingReturn staff must have at least 1 year gap before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
