The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for performing therapeutic intervention following the guidelines of the current plan of care written by the Occupational Therapist. They will observe, and informally assess a patients' physical and mental abilities to assist the Occupational Therapist in determining realistic rehabilitation goals for each patient. They will select the activities necessary to help individuals learn skills within the limits of their mental and physical capabilities. They will collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. The successful candidates will also administer a team-oriented program to restore maximum function, including life skills, perceptual motor abilities, sensory function and adjustment to disability. They will apply knowledge of age-specific competencies and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. They will perform required duties at a high level, with minimal orientation. They may be required to “float” outside of primary assignment location to another clinical settings for which They is qualified to work. They will remain flexible regarding work schedule to meet client staffing requirements.
