Description :
The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures which produce high-quality diagnostic films for use in the detection of breast tissue abnormalities.
Performs breast imaging procedures within the scope of the assigned department.
Conducts quality mammography and adheres to MQSA and ACR specific quality controls and reporting.
Prepares the exam room.
Obtains and reviews the screening sheet and requests an accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam.
Reviews patient history and determines the proper selection of protocols.
Explains the method of examination and positions the patient.
Assesses the patient's status and needs, completing appropriate diagnostic techniques / tests to ascertain ongoing conditions, and performs necessary interventions.
Works with radiologists and physicists to fulfill MQSA and ACR requirements annually.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered, including coordination with third parties / referrals.
Ensures quality images.
Informs the patient of physician’s instructions or ancillary caregivers’ observations or concerns and considers these in providing appropriate care.
Ensures that the mammography department remains continuously survey-ready for MQSA and ACR.
Reports directly to the Imaging Services Manager.
Demonstrates astute communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, patients, families, and administration.
Exhibits the ability to adjust to job situations involving diverse personalities and projects, requiring independent action and judgment.
Possesses problem-solving abilities to deal with various individuals.
Able to work alone, make independent decisions, and adapt to emergency situations.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with peers, professional staff, and patients.

Flexibility to work in continually changing conditions is essential.
Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment.
Ability to lift and move patients with or without assistance and maneuver equipment weighing 20 pounds or more.

Visual and hearing acuity are required to receive feedback and information from patients.
This position involves periods of stooping, standing, bending, moderate lifting, and overall patient care.
