General Description :
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Director, coordinates the Laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs. Responsible for knowing all JCAHO, CAP, AABB and CLIA Regulations and their implementation. Coordinates the Point-of Care Testing under the directorship of the Associate Pathologist.
The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develops the laboratory quality control program. Monitors and evaluates clinical quality control results daily. Communicates findings with appropriate Laboratory personnel.
- Develops and monitors clinical quality assurance indicators.
- Supervises Cap Survey testing and reporting for Laboratory and all Point-of-Care areas. Reviews and coordinates all aspects of Point-of-Care Testing in all areas. (Nursing, Parrish Diagnostic Center, Same Day Surgery, Parrish Medical Offices-Port St John, Community Medical Clinic and Clinical Laboratory) Training, troubleshooting, and organizing Point-of-Care Testing in all areas.
- Assists the Laboratory Administrative Director in implementing JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, AABB standards for the department. Coordinates the Point Of Care Testing for the hospital, Parrish Medical Offices, Port St John, Same Day Surgery Center, Parrish Diagnostic Center, and the Community Medical Clinic.
- Evaluates new analytical methods and / or instruments pertaining to all areas of the Laboratory.
- Provides all aspects of Diagnostic Laboratory Procedures based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice as appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Has the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patients needs and has knowledge of age specific reference ranges. The employee will demonstrate competence by performing and resulting laboratory tests using the appropriate age specific procedures for the following age groups :
- Responsible for student and technologist quality control instruction. Advises on instrument troubleshooting as it pertains to quality control.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
Requirements : Formal Education :
Associates Degree, ADN or other Two-Year College equivalent required. Major(s) required.Work Experience :
