Shift Supervisor (TAC)
Monitors and supervises 3-5 Team Leaders and their platoons, which consist of 35-40 youth (ages 16-18) in the Thunderbird Challenge Program.
Compensation : $45000.00
Supervises 35 Team Leaders and oversees 4 cadet platoons (3540 youth per platoon, ages 1518) under general direction. Maintains cadet accountability, safety, and discipline at all times within a structured, military-style environment. Promotes teamwork and serves as a mentor, role model, and secondary support for cadet issues. Enforces program rules and policies. Oversees documentation required by the Operations Department, including staff records and annual evaluations, in line with NGB and TCP guidelines. Works a rotating shift as needed based on facility staffing requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
Serves as the primary Training Officer for the Operations Department, leading initial training for new cadre and managing the development and bi-annual revision of the cadre training curriculum. Works closely with the Staff Training Coordinator and supervisor to deliver department-specific training and required certifications (e.g., CPI, RCYCP, etc.), maintains accurate training records, evaluates training effectiveness, and provides regular updates to program leadership. Conducts ongoing check-ins to monitor skill progression and support continued development of all new cadre. Will obtain and maintain required instructor certifications to deliver and certify cadre in mandated training areas. Acts as the primary point of contact for the Operations Department during offsite cadet activities / events. Works with the program coordinator and offsite event POC to ensure all day-of logistics, including communication, transportation, and supervision, are effectively managed. Attends program calendar meetings weekly to provide feedback on previous events and gain awareness of upcoming events.
Military background preferred, but not necessary. Be able to speak / communicate orally to a group of people; have demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment. Computer based skills to work on internet / Google and Microsoft applications. NON MILITARY APPLICANTS must be willing to learn knowledge of military structure and procedures (Drill and Ceremony, Physical Fitness, Customs and Courtesies).
High School diploma or GED required. Degree not required but is preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience working directly with youth.1 year of supervisory experience is required. Experience working in a team / collaborative environment is preferred. Experience conducting and developing training preferred. All required experience must be clearly listed on the resume. Possession of or ability to obtain a CDL driving permit within 90 days of employment and CDL driver's license within 12 months of employment.
Requires long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Working in conditions of both high and low temperatures. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to run a mile and walk extended distances. Ability to do pushups, side straddle hops, sit ups and other physical training and fitness activities. Ability to teach and perform physical training to cadets as outlined by the Youth Challenge Physical Fitness Program. Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances. Tobacco and Vape Free Facility. Serves a 12-month probationary period (new employees). Federal funded position which is contingent on continuous federal funding.
