Travel Nurse Job Details

Location : Richmond, VA 23230 (Virginia healthcare jobs)

Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Employment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Shift : 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts / week)

Hours per Week : 36

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks

Start Date : October 20, 2025

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1740–$1860

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state

BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

Minimum 2 years of recent bedside clinical experience as a Med / Surg RN

ICU / Critical Care nursing experience highly desired

Strong communication, clinical, and teamwork skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission

Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and deliver direct patient care using the nursing process

Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the time of admission

Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care

Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees

Promote and maintain patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies and procedures

Foster teamwork and contribute positively to the Med / Surg unit environment

Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation

Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to advance your nursing career
