The Opportunity
In this role you will have the opportunity to :
Function as a technical lead substation design engineer (substation design encompasses distribution, subtransmission and transmission level voltage classes)
Perform substation design, including physical design and protection / relaying control
Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work / resource planning meetings
Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors
QA / QC of projects and mentor junior engineers
This position is hybrid and located in Tualatin, OR. It is preferred if the candidate is located near the Portland / Vancouver metro. Candidates willing to relocate may be considered.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards
Continues to learn, remains current and applies knowledge about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and BV policies relative to assigned tasks
Quality / Continuous Improvement
Applies knowledge and complies with BV quality program
May be responsible for ensuring compliance with BV quality program
Provides guidance to others on the project and discipline
Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
Engineering Production
Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables
Performs complex research and recommends equipment / materials
Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods
Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements
Plans and conducts independent evaluation and adaptation of engineering techniques
Reviews lower-level engineering work
Oversees data management for engineering work; leads smaller production teams; or serves as responsible charge for a project
Project Coordination
Actively coordinates with internal / external team members on moderately complex projects
Client Focus
Assists with identification of key client interests on less complex projects
Communicates client interests to the project team and develops approaches to accommodate concerns
May support business development or pursuit activities
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology
Recognized as a technical specialist with in-depth knowledge of an engineering process
Designs a complete project of moderately complex scope within assigned practice area(s)
People Management – (supervision, career development, training, mentoring)
Typically assists with performance management, mentoring, recognition, and corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program
Minimum of 5 years related work experience

Work Environment / Physical Needs
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion and performance.
Certifications
Most positions require professional registration or licensure in the designated home country, or be actively pursuing such registration.
