$2,236 to $2,860 per month – Range 29 (2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule)
Grounds Maintenance Technician 50% :
$2,022 – $2,580 – Range 25 (2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule)
Work Locations : Columbia College; Sonora, CA
40 hours per week, 12 months per year
5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Monday through Friday (6 : 00am – 2 : 30pm)
(Evening and weekend hours may be required)
Appointments are hired at the first step of the range. The second step is paid after the first year of satisfactory service with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum sixth step.

Maintenance Technician 50%
DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a wide range of semi-skilled trades duties involving the maintenance, repair and construction of school facilities, offices and large buildings; performs basic and broad support for carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC and other services; operates a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner; and performs related work as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the second working level class in the Maintenance Support Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Incumbents in this class perform semi-skilled duties in support of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC and other services. Incumbents function as generalists, performing semi-skilled duties that emphasize preventive maintenance and require a basic and general knowledge multiple trade areas, but do not require advanced-level skills in any single area.This class can be distinguished from the lower-level Maintenance Assistant class because incumbents in that class primarily perform general facility support duties (such as moving furniture and setting up for events) and also perform routine and unskilled maintenance and repair duties. This class can also be distinguished from the higher-level Maintenance Specialist classes because incumbents in those classes perform the full range of skilled duties required in a specialized maintenance trade area such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, or HVAC technology. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Incumbents in this class work under the general supervision of a manager, working alone on routine or regular work assignments and checking with the supervisor on non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow.Incumbents do not directly or indirectly lead or supervise other full-time employees.
Grounds Maintenance Technician 50%
DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a wide range of grounds maintenance and related duties including mowing, sweeping, trenching, planting, weeding, irrigating, and pruning; installs and maintains irrigation systems; applies herbicides and pesticides; operates a variety of light and heavy-duty grounds maintenance equipment; and performs related work as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the full working level class of the Grounds Maintenance Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Incumbents in this class perform journey-level grounds maintenance, gardening and related duties in order to ensure that landscaped and naturalized areas are both attractive and functional. Grounds keeping duties emphasize mowing and edging large lawn areas, maintaining athletic fields, weeding planted areas, pruning trees and shrubs, maintaining sprinkler systems, spraying herbicides and pesticides, and supporting athletic events.This class can be distinguished from the higher-level class of Grounds Maintenance Specialist because incumbents in that class may be assigned to perform the most complex grounds maintenance duties such as maintaining undeveloped and rugged terrain, planning and preparing fire breaks, and removing snow, and / or may serve as lead workers for an assigned shift and / or area. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Incumbents in this class work under the general supervision of a manager, working alone on routine or regular work assignments and checking with the supervisor on non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow.Incumbents do not directly or indirectly lead or supervise other full-time employees.
