Overview
United Dental Corporation (UDC) is a data-driven DSO scaling from 20+ practices toward $100M+ in revenue. If you like building systems that remove manual steps, collapse time, and make decision-making instantaneous then keep reading.
This developer will partner directly with the CEO to design and automate the backbone that powers financial, clinical, and operational reporting across the company. Your code will be the system.
Current Environment
Today, most workflows are manual. Data is pulled from CareStack, Dentira, HR / payroll, Sage Intacct, and HubSpot as CSV or Excel files, merged with formulas (INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP, arrays) to create reports. These work but do not scale.
Your mission : turn that into clean, automated, API-driven infrastructure.
You’ll use ETL frameworks and Python scripts for ingestion, JSON and REST APIs for live connections, and SMTP / SFTP / file-drop automations where APIs don’t exist. The end state is an auditable, always-current data layer feeding dashboards and metrics without human intervention.
Core Responsibilities
1. Data Integration & Automation
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines between CareStack, Dentira, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Prestige / Kronos, HubSpot, and future systems.
- Eliminate Excel bottlenecks by scripting repeatable workflows for extraction, transformation, and load.
- Normalize practice and provider identifiers for clean cross-system joins.
- Add monitoring and alerting for failed jobs or stale data.
2. Reporting Infrastructure
Convert and transform existing data processes (download and manipulate in Excel) into automated, efficient reports for various KPIs.Stand up and manage a reporting database (PostgreSQL or equivalent).Eventually connect outputs to Power BI, Looker Studio, or Excel with automatic refresh cycles.3. API Expansion & Documentation
Map each vendor’s API surface, authentication method, and data schema.Maintain clean documentation and version control.Work with vendors to unlock additional endpoints or resolve integration gaps.4. Collaboration & Process
Reverse-engineer existing Excel logic and replace it with code.Align metric definitions with broader team.Produce code that others can trust and eventually build on : versioned, commented, and tested.Requirements
Required
3–6 years in software / data engineering (Python, SQL, JSON, REST APIs).Hands-on experience building automated ETL or API pipelines between SaaS platforms.Comfort translating complex Excel logic into code.Strong grasp of data modeling, authentication, and error handling.Bias for speed, simplicity, and ownership.Nice to Have
Familiarity with dental / healthcare PMS (CareStack, Dentrix, Eaglesoft).Exposure to financial and HR systems (Sage Intacct, Bill.com, ADP / Kronos).Experience with data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).Experience deploying on AWS Lambda, Airflow, or similar schedulers.Understanding of HubSpot CRM data structures.Success Metrics
Manual report prep time cut by >80 % within 90 days.
API-driven refresh cycle stable across all core systems within 6 months.Practice-level KPIs visible daily, no manual intervention. All pipelines documented, versioned, and monitored.Compensation
Compensation commensurate with experience and will include performance incentives tied to automation and data reliability milestones.
Mindset Fit
You build systems that replace people’s manual work. You document what you build so no one ever rebuilds it. You hate doing the same thing twice. You like showing results before anyone asks.
