Overall Responsibility
The Sous Chef assists the Kitchen Manager in preparing and providing creative and nutritious meals at UCCC. You are also responsible for supporting the overall flow of the entire operation of the kitchen. Adequate understanding of how to use all appliances and equipment is required. You may assist in preparation of menus and weekly food and supply orders while helping maintain a healthy and safe kitchen and meal program.
Primary Interactions
Interacts closely with Kitchen Manager and all other kitchen staff. You will have daily contact with children and teachers and other administrative staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports, but should be able to oversee the work of the Dishwashers and other temporary kitchen support staff when the Kitchen Manager is unavailable.

Environmental Factors
Indoor, primarily works in a commercial kitchen. Noise and activity levels can be high; temperatures will be hot during food preparation. Position requires a health screen, TB test, motor vehicle check, Hepatitis A vaccination, Family Care Safety Registry record check and criminal background check via fingerprinting. UCCC is a busy, unique environment. Employees are expected to participate fully in the life of the Center. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. (food, boxes and materials in the kitchen) and in the event of an evacuation or emergency situation.
Education / Experience
This position is TEMPORARY FULL-TIME Monday thorough Friday for six months. Pay is $18.00 / hr.
