About The Position

Job Title : MRI Technologist

Profession : Clinical Professional

Shift : Thurs / Fri 9 : 30 AM - 11 : 00 PM, Sat 7 : 00 AM - 7 : 30 PM

Hours per Shift : 10.5 hours (Thurs / Fri), 12.5 hours (Sat)

Experience : Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience

License : Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

Certifications : BLS

Must-Have : 5 years of related experience; proficiency with Epic; experience with GE Equipment

Description :

Operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the patient body for diagnostic purposes.

Performs MRI examinations according to department policy and protocols.

Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures of various parts of the body.

Includes setting up equipment such as coils, monitoring devices, etc., and positioning the patient to provide the best demonstration of the body part under study.

Performs quality control tests on department equipment and reports any discrepancies to the proper personnel.

Collects and evaluates relevant examination information from scheduling, patients, and referring physicians, including screening information.

Maintains departmental records and patient information according to policy.

Is responsive to patient physical and psychological needs.

Keeps patients informed and explains all procedures clearly to reduce unnecessary anxiety.

Listens to and answers patient questions with patience and courtesy.

Performs safety procedures for outpatients, inpatients, patient families, and for staff.

Screens patients and personnel for any metal objects or implants that may cause harm to the patient or equipment.

Ensures that no patient, visitor, or healthcare worker enters the scan room with metal objects or contraindicated implants.

Evaluates results of the scanning procedure for quality and completeness.

Manipulates images using console keyboard and mouse for display to the physician.

Uses a terminal to select all image display options.

Recognizes and rectifies problems related to operations.

Sends images to the PACS system, evaluates exams for completeness, and verifies exams in a timely manner.

Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities.

Maintains accurate documentation on logbook worksheets and charging for examinations and supplies.

Seeks advice from appropriate resources when unsure of protocols or policies.

Exercises independent judgment in planning sequences of operations and making minor decisions.

Works directly with patients and / or customers.

Works with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.

Works with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
