A confidential, fast-growing national retail organization with a strong presence across the United States is seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join its legal team. The company operates in the convenience, food service, and retail sectors, supporting thousands of locations and a large employee base. This is a highly visible, hands-on role within a dynamic business committed to operational excellence and continued expansion.
Position Summary :
The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support across a broad range of business and regulatory matters. This position will be based in the Charlotte, NC office and will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and business teams on complex legal issues, risk management, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and capable of balancing business objectives with sound legal judgment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Advise on federal, state, and local regulatory and compliance matters, including data privacy, food safety, environmental regulations, trademarks, and age-restricted product sales.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts related to operational and regulatory areas.
- Provide timely, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Manage litigation matters, engage and oversee outside counsel, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Develop and maintain company policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
- Support business initiatives with strategic legal guidance to minimize risk and support long-term growth.
- May supervise one paralegal or provide mentorship within the legal team.
Qualifications :
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active admission to a state bar (Massachusetts, North Carolina, or other U.S. jurisdiction).Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience, including prior in-house counsel experience.Strong understanding of regulatory, commercial, and compliance issues within a multi-state retail or service environment.Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general business software tools.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced corporate environment.Additional Details :
